Editorial Policy
These principles apply to everything published on Searchbeam.
Sources and attribution
- Every story links to its original sources. When we build on another publication’s reporting, we say so and link to it.
- Claims, numbers and quotes are attributed to whoever made them. Data from vendors, studies or social posts is labeled as such.
- We prefer primary sources: official announcements, documentation and statements from the companies involved.
Facts and interpretation
- We separate what is confirmed from what is reported, estimated or speculated.
- Our analysis (“why it matters”, “what to do”) is our interpretation and is presented as such.
- We don’t add facts that aren’t in the sources.
How stories are produced
We use software tools during research and drafting. Every story is checked, edited and approved by an editor before it is published, and the editor is responsible for everything that appears on the site.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction at the end of the story. To report an error, contact us.
Independence
We don’t accept payment for coverage. If that ever changes (for example, sponsored content), it will be clearly labeled.
