OpenAI appears to be building a reporting tool inside ChatGPT that shows businesses how often they are mentioned in answers and how many users click through to their sites. The feature was spotted by Juozas Kaziukėnas of Marketplace Pulse and reported by Search Engine Roundtable on November 6, 2026. OpenAI has not announced it. It also follows the debate over how big ChatGPT has become, covered in our story on ChatGPT’s search volume compared with Google’s.

What are the new ChatGPT business tools?

According to Kaziukėnas’s LinkedIn post, a banner invites businesses to “claim your business in ChatGPT”, as part of a larger Business Hub. The tool counts impressions (appearances in responses) and clicks to the business’s website, tracked daily and shown as a chart. Only businesses that have verified ownership, for example by connecting a Shopify store, can use it.

Kaziukėnas says it shows no prompt data, user data, competitor benchmark or ranking. The banner also lists adding products and letting a business agent answer customer questions. As PPC Land notes, all of this rests on one person’s view of an unreleased interface, and the feature appears separate from ChatGPT ads.

Why does ChatGPT mention and click data matter for GEO?

For the first time, businesses could get first-party numbers on organic ChatGPT visibility instead of relying only on third-party tools that simulate prompts. Kaziukėnas argues that, combined with external prompt trackers, it would show whether GEO/AEO work is paying off.

The limits are just as important. Without prompts, you will see the score but not the reason behind it. PPC Land also points out that the definition of an “impression” is unknown: a text mention, a product card and a citation are different events, and counting repeat appearances changes rates sharply. Clicks also capture only part of the effect, since a user who sees your brand in ChatGPT and then searches for it on Google will show up as search traffic, not a ChatGPT click.

It is also unclear who can join. Verification via Shopify is the only example, so publishers and service businesses without a store may be left out.

How to prepare for ChatGPT Business Hub analytics

  • Check whether your business has a verifiable setup, such as a connected Shopify store, and make sure your business details are current.
  • Keep your prompt-tracking tools. The charts would show what happened, not why.
  • Record a baseline of your current ChatGPT mentions and referral traffic now, so you can compare once data appears.
  • Separate direct ChatGPT referrals from branded search lifts in your analytics.
  • Do not change budgets or reporting on this yet. Watch for an official OpenAI announcement covering definitions, eligibility, exports and markets.
